Cupcake course from Carina's Cupcakes

On Sunday I attended the couture cake school at Carina's Cupcakes - details can be found on their website - http://www.carinascupcakes.com/category_s/1820.htm

I had a lovely day, the cake school is really beautiful and very well laid out. We created a full foam tray of flowers each and then added them along with some frills, ruffles and embossing to 6 vanilla cupcakes.

The course content suited me down to the ground, I love flowers!!

Modelling at Richard's Cakes

Yesterday I visited Richard's Cakes in Urmston, near Manchester. I attended their Basic Figure Modelling course. To anyone who enjoys working with fondant, hobby baker to professional baker, I would highly recommend booking in to on of the courses. The course was taught by the shop manager, Emma, who was fantastic! The pieces of what can only be described as art in the shop were mind blowing, I finally got to see the Gold award winning entries from Cake International that I missed when I was poorly in November.

First Prize!

I entered the village show in the first weekend of September, I am happy to say I won 1st prize for my cake and 3rd prize for my cupcakes! The cake was a vanilla madeira, hand decorated and textured and filled with jam and Cloud Cupcake Land's signature buttercream!

The cupcakes were Autumn inspired, pictures in the categories to the left! x

A business in the making!

Cloud Cupcake Land is currently being transformed from a hobby into a real life actual business! It's all very exciting! I'll be posting updates as I go along so watch this space x

The week is over at last!

It’s been a draining week again, more so than most though. It was Auntie Ade’s funeral on Wednesday. It was a sad occasion (as expected) but went well I thought. The church service was very nice and there was a really good turn out. I like to think that we gave her a good send off. The cupcakes went down very well that I made. I asked Sarah what Fluff’s favourite flowers and colours were, she told me pink and yellow and she loved yellow roses. I made pink and yellow roses to go on the top of half of the cakes. I also added yellow and pink butterflies.

Next batch of baking

I have Tuesday off work and I will be baking some cupcakes that will be served at the funeral of my Auntie Ade (aka Fluff) Fluff sadly passed away last Saturday after suffering from a number of strokes that were initially diagnosed in January. Her favourite colours were yellow and pink so I am aiming to decorate the cupcakes using those colours. I will also be attempting some yellow roses as these were her favourite flowers. It really saddens me that she won’t be around to see them.

First order delivered!

I am so pleased! I logged in to Facebook on Thursday night to find a request for two dozen cupcakes for Saturday! No problem! I created 12 chocolate chip and 12 strawberry cupcakes for the occasion. I am sure that my decorating skills will improve with time, I am however very proud of my first order. Thanks Sue! x

Cupcakes, blogs and baking

I love to bake and create mouth watering treats and one day I would like to set up a business along these lines, ideally with a tea room and book shop…aim your sights high eh?!!! In the meantime, I have created Cloud Cupcake Land, this is to ‘formalise’ my hobby and help me to start developing what will hopefully turn in to a successful venture. I have a page on Facebook and my website is under development. I will be blogging about progress and developments for anyone who is interested but mainly for myself so I can talk about it all without constantly bending my friends ears!
